the cap i never replaced

I was looking through my parents’ closet one day and saw this Yankees baseball cap. I liked the look of it, so I wore it. I must’ve been around thirteen at the time, and since then I still wear it regularly.

In the early 2000’s, my parents went to a New York Yankees game, where my Dad got this hat. He wore it for as long as I can remember. It was during a time when the Yankees and Red Sox rivalry (read more) was at it’s fiercest.

I’ve been on many school trips with it, as far back as a year 8 trip to Thailand. I still bring it everywhere: beaches, hiking, holidays, and my graduation ceremony.

I’ve worn this hat in many photos with family and friends; it almost feels like a part of me. It might seem silly, because it’s just a hat, but I really can’t imagine what it would be like without it.

I’ve been looking to buy a new cap for a few years now, but I still haven’t found one that fits as perfectly as this one. Over the years, it’s become battered and grimy from make-up stains, and sweat, but that’s what makes it even more endearing.
