Bracelet
1. What is the object?
A religious bracelet
2. How did it come into your life?
It was gifted to me by my Uncle
3. How old were you when you got it?
11 years old
4. What memory do you associate with it most strongly?
I remember playing with my friends when someone grabbed my hand at it broke. I didn’t realise how much it meant to me until that moment. Rather than let it go, I went home and re-strung it which is why you see the blue elastic it has now.
5. How does it make you feel now?
I don’t travel without it and always sleep with it nearby! It brings me a sense of safety, although I’ve had a complicated relationship with Christianity, the bracelet reminds me of love, family and an inkling of hope.
6. If you no longer had it, what would you miss?
I would weirdly feel a lost sense of security, like I would be missing the attachment to a time of my life where I felt closer to my religion.
